Growing up as a kid, I never liked fish. I hated them as pets and I refused to eat fish. Something about them freaked me out (also doesn't help that I have a slight case of thalassophobia). But within the past year, I decided to give it a go and try fish. Not too bad, but if the fish is served in its entirety (head, tail, and all), then no thanks.
That's why the following video really truly disgusted me. Apparently some chef in China discovered a way to deep fry fish without killing it.
Um, first off, WTF? Why would you even want to know how to cook a fish while keeping it alive? What would make someone think that it's a cool idea to have people dine on fish, while the poor thing is still gasping for air?? Freaking disgusting and twisted.

Scaredy Cat Cub
OMG you guys, I cracked up for like 10 minutes after watching this video. Michelle Collins of Best Week Ever posted it, and like, I just can't stop watching it. It's some kind of animal show on Korean TV, but you really don't need to know Korean to understand it. The bear cub below is HILARIOUS in his fear of, well, basically anything that moves. I do feel a little bad laughing at its expense when it is obviously SO freakin terrified of the tigers it is forced to be near, but OMG. HAHAHA. I even earmarked my favorite parts for you guys, even if you don't watch the whole clip, you must watch 0:44 (when the cub first sees the tiger), and 2:49 (when he gets scared by a shadow). HAHA.

Twitter is Kind of Sad, Kind of Cool
In case you have been living under a rock, Twitter is the new Facebook .. sort of. It all started with the idea of microblogging, and has now grown into a big social networking ordeal, where people can update their statuses about anything and everything, as long as they have access to the Internet.

Britney Spears - If You Seek Amy
So I know I wrote about If You Seek Amy as my song of the day awhile back, but I just wanted to post about the newly released music video for 2 reasons: 1) She looks hot. Not her best video ever (see: Toxic, I'm a Slave 4U, Circus), but she looks hot, the song is hot, so what more do you want? 2) I AM SEEING HER IN CONCERT TOMORROW. Can I just repeat that? I AM SEEING HER TOMORROW. Barring no meltdown, no major disaster, no world-coming-to-an-end event in the next 30 hours or so, I will be sitting (in pretty good seats) at the Prudential Center, Newark, where she will be dancing and lip-syncing to her heart's content. CAN'T WAIT!
The last time I saw her was in 2001, for her Dream within a Dream tour. She looked like an ant from where we were sitting, but it was AMAZING. And being the biggest fan, I am UBER excited for her comeback tour. I will be twittering tomorrow's concert experience, so check that out. And here is the hot new video.

My favorite Kanye song off his new album, which I must say, is not my favorite. The awesome song is set to a dizzying backdrop of scenes, and I don't know how to quite describe it, except that this is what it looks like when you're channel surfing and some of the channels are scrambled. You know what I'm talking about! Apparently Kanye rushed to release the video after he found out another video shot using the same technique was just released. WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE'S NOT ORIGINAL?? Let's not make this a trend people, my eyes hurt. But enjoy the song!

Our President and First Lady Looking All Lovey-Dovey
President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama made their rounds last night, partying it up before Obama gets his hands all dirty with the mess our country is in. Despite her questionable choice of outfit for the actual inauguration, the First Lady looked absolutely STUNNING in her Jason Wu gown.
Beyonce did a pretty decent job; and I don't blame her for getting all teary at the end because I mean, LOOK AT THEM! Look how beautiful they are!

Funny Clip: Dirty Dancing
So apparently there's a reality show on TruTV (yeah, never heard of this channel either) called The Principal's Office. It basically shows students getting reprimanded or whatevs .. at the principal's office.

Song of the Day: Flightless Bird, American Mouth by Iron & Wine
When the Twilight soundtrack listing was first released, I was expecting a hardcore, emo-riffic CD. Though I wasn't too far off with that assumption, one song in particular caught my ears - Flightless Bird, American Mouth by Iron & Wine. In the movie, the song was played during Edward and Bella's prom dance scene, but even though I am a die-hard Twilight fan, I haven't been associating the song with the movie. Rather, it makes me appreciate Iron & Wine in all their folksy goodness.

I Really Want a Canon 5D Mark II
The newest innovation in professional digital photography is the ability to record video on them.
A lot of people who don't know much about DSLR's might say, "psh, my digital camera has always been able to record video!"
Trust me, it's not the same.
The Canon 5D Mark II, which retails for $2,700 shoots in full HD and allows you to use different lenses to create very impressive videos.
Don't believe me? Watch the proof. The video posted on top was done by a random guy with just basic supplies. This video, Reverie, was done by a professional photographer with a bunch of lenses and top-notch editing. Both look awesome.
Well, now you all know what to get me for Christmas!

Video of the Day: Crazy Yoyo Guy
When was the last time you played with a yo-yo? For me, it was, like, 10 years ago. I was really into yo-yo'ing back then, but eventually the interested faded.
For some people though, these things don't become boring. Instead, they become crazy good at it and go to Jamaica for yo-yo contests, like Hiroyuki Suzuki.
No matter how much I would want to make fun of him or say he's a loser, I can't really do it. He's amazing at what he does and that's more than most people can say, even if it's at something so... non-traditional :x

I'm not really a big fan of Sarah Silverman. I mean, for the most part, I find her humor to be a bit immature and .. not funny. But I'll admit: every once in a while, she can crack me up. The Great Schlep is a great example:

PSA of the Day: Don't Vote
Last week I wrote about registering to vote, and how you should go do it, if you haven't already.Well, I've got some major Hollywood celebrities backing me up on this one. In one of the cooler celebrity endorsements I've seen, a who's-who of big stars make the plea- Register and vote. All the celebs bring their own style and sensibility to the message, some are funny (Jonah Hill, Sarah Silverman), some are more serious (I'm talking to you, Halle Berry!). The video is worth it for Courtney Cox-Arquette's Friends joke alone. Watch it, pass it on, register, vote.

McDonald's Commercial: Apparently, Most Women Are Posers
I loves me a good commercial. One of my very first blog post was a bunch of European Ikea commercials (which attests to my theory that European commercials are a bit more racy than ours), and I have this weird, obsessive fondness for good commercials, probably due to Super Bowl commercials and working in marketing.
The latest commercial I saw that made me want to post isn't because it's a great one. Rather, it just makes me think about how some commercial do tend to reflect on the current times, whether intentional or not:
Seeing women admit that they don't really know where Paraguay is, but pretending to be intellects to save face at a jazzy cafe/coffee shop doesn't scream out OMG BEST COMMERCIAL EVER to me. Rather, it just makes me think about the country's current perception about "intellectual" women, a la Sarah Palin and it makes me sad.
