There aren't too many great movies opening this weekend- just the awful-looking Renee Zellwegger romcom New in Town, the alright-looking Taken (the trailer alone made me want to watch it), and the horror movie The Uninvited. Oh, The Uninvited... For those of you who don't know, this movie is based on the highest grossing Korean horror movie of all time, A Tale of Two Sisters (JangHwa, Hong Ryun). I HATE horror films. I usually watch with my eyes closed and my ears plugged, so... yeah, spending $10 to be a mute for 2 hours is not something I think is fun. But, I did watch A Tale of Two Sisters because I found intriguing the fact that SOO many people watched and loved it, and I really like the 2 actresses that play the sisters in the movie.
Um. It's a REALLY scary movie. We're talking blood and ghosts and scary noises. But, it's also a really well made, imaginative, and thoughful kind of a horror film. Which is why I have absolute no hopes for this new remake. The trailer makes it look stupid. And it hasn't been getting hot reviews either. If you really want to be scared, netflix the original A Tale of Two Sisters.

2008 Central Park Pumpkin Festival (Saturday, Oct. 25)
Pumpkin picking at Cherry Hill, located in Central Park. While you're at it, check out the citywide scarecrow competition around Bethesda Fountain and watch the 20-foot-tall jack-o’-lantern tower (lit at sundown). You can catch it all from a hayride starting at the bottom of Cherry Hill.

Taste of Korea Restaurant Week
19 New York City Korean restaurants are participating in the Taste of Korea Restaurant week, which sadly ends tomorrow. If you have a chance to hit up these restaurants, then you'll be able to pay $7-$15 for lunch or $15-$25 for dinner. The restaurants serve a main course of Bibimpap and offer a variety of appetizers and desserts.

As mentioned in an earlier post, there will be hot air balloon rides in Central Park, from now until August 22nd. What other way to celebrate Central Park's 150th birthday, than to see it from 300 feet in the air?

Bubble Battle NYC 2008 - If you liked the idea of a public pillow fight, chances are you'll think a bubble battle is just as cool. Once again, it's free and it will be held at Broadway and 45th street tomorrow at 6:20pm. Sounds like it'll be a lot of fun.
New York Asian Film Festival - Show your Asian pride / appreciation of Asian art by attending the Asian film festival starting this weekend. Showings cost $11.50 a movie, but there are special discount packages for $49 or $99. The festival only lasts until July 6th, so catch it while you can!
