Awful Library Books
I loooove sites like Fail Blog and Engrish Funny, so I am kinda loving Awful Library Books. It's like Fail Blog for the "literary" world. I put the word "literary" in quotes cause uh, these books are not examples of the best of the best in literature, but that's what makes it hilarious. The blog was started by 2 Detroit librarians, Mary Kelly and Holly Hibner, and their aim is to just highlight some of the worst books found on local library shelves. There's a nice article in Time about who they are and the impact their blog has had on...librarians. =P
But really, I think my favorite book on the site so far is the one on the left. It's always been my dream to be a homemaker, so I'm gonna have to track this copy down! And yes, I am kidding. Sorta.

His and Her Blog: Uncrate and Outblush
Two weeks ago, I posted about Bargainist.com, a simple deal blog. This week, I want to plug two more websites run by the same corporation, which fittingly enough for today, is named Zombie Corp.
Uncrate and Outblush are the like the his and hers blog of the interwebs. They both post about cool things you can buy, with Uncrate focusing on men's goods and Outblush on women's products.
The things they post range from afford things like video games to the more drool-worthy Lamborghini's and jewelry. And both websites have the same straightforward feel of the Bargainist.
The blogs are great when you're feeling very consumer-like (for me, that's always) or when you're looking to find a cool and unique gift. Uncrate is a blog I check daily, so you should do the same.... Well, if you're a girl, you should hit up Outblush.

Stuff [Fill in the Blank] Like
A few months ago, Yuri wrote about one of our favorite blogs ever, Stuff White People Like. Since then, SWPL has taken off, garnering heavy media coverage and even spawning a book deal for Christian Lander, the creator of the blog. You know you're a cultural phenomenon when you land a book deal, but your status in pop culture history is cemented when you inspire a dozen parodies/counterparts, as Lander's idea has done. Not white and can't relate? Not a problem! Check out: Stuff Asian People Like, Stuff Desis Like, Stuff Educated Black People Like, Stuff Nobody Likes, Stuff College People Like, Stuff God Hates, I mean it goes on and on and on.
Nothing beats the original, but for me, this comes really close: Stuff Korean Moms Like. HILARIOUS. Honestly, my mom isn't the typical Korean mom, but #42 Paper and Plastic Bags pretty much describes her to a T:
If you are like me, you know the worst thing you can do is throw out an empty paper or plastic bag in front of your Korean Mom. She will cry out as if her latest Korean Drama has been canceled, and shout "YAH!"(YOU!) in her loud, super sonic Korean Mom voice. As soon as either paper or plastic bag enters the Korean Mom's domain they are meticulously folded or knotted into complicated designs and stored in a drawer or cupboard for future use.
Ahahahaha. There you have it, folks, some new sites to peruse when you are mindlessly bored at work.

How White Are You?
We here at Life in Boxes have recently discovered one of the best blogs ever: Stuff White People Like.
The site regularly takes something white people like and breaks it down for the rest of us. I mean, like, why do white people like rugby?
Rugby’s greatest appeal lies in it’s uniforms.Unlike other sports where jerseys are made out of nylon or mesh, Rugby jerseys are like thick sweatshirts with collars! In fact there is no other jersey on earth that can move so seamlessly from the playing field to the farmers market.
It's hilarious gems like these that makes the blog so great.
While this pseudo-reverse-racism is all taken with a grain of salt, it got me thinking, "How white am I?"
After perusing their list, I have found that I am 32/95 (33.68%) white. Not too shabby, I think.

Boredom Killer: The 2008 Bloggies
For those of you who don’t know, bloggers have their own awards called the Bloggies. Well anyway, the 2008 bloggie winners were just recently announced.
What I find really useful about the bloggies is that they expose me to great blogs that I might have never heard of otherwise.
So if you find yourself refreshing your same old bookmarks for the 5th time today, a quick glance at the winners and nominees will help diversify your day.
